Because young puppies are not yet fully vaccinated, we do not recommend taking them into public areas or allowing them to touch outside ground that may have been exposed to unknown animals. 

During this time, many families choose to begin housebreaking with a litter box or potty pads indoors.

Your puppy can be trained to use:

A litter box designed for dogs

Washable potty pads

Disposable potty pads

A designated indoor potty area

Choose one method and location and remain as consistent as possible. 

Puppies learn best when their routine does not frequently change.

Take your puppy to their litter box or potty pad:

Immediately after waking up

After meals and drinking water

After playtime

Before bedtime

Every 1–2 hours while awake

Young puppies have small bladders and need frequent potty breaks.

When your puppy uses the litter box or potty pad correctly, offer lots of praise and a small treat immediately. 

Positive reinforcement helps your puppy understand exactly what you want them to do.

Accidents are a normal part of the learning process. 

If an accident occurs, clean the area thoroughly and continue with your routine. 

Avoid punishment, as it can create fear and confusion.

Puppies are more likely to use a litter box or potty pad that is kept clean.

Regular cleaning helps encourage good habits and makes training easier.

Some families continue using a litter box or potty pads throughout their dog's life, while others choose to transition to 

outdoor potty training after their puppy has completed their veterinarian-recommended vaccination series. 

Either option can be successful when done consistently.

 With patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, your puppy will continue developing good potty habits.

Puppies often need time to adjust to a new home. 

Even if your puppy was doing well before leaving us, it is normal to experience a few accidents during the transition period. 

Stay patient, maintain a routine, and celebrate the small successes along the way.
